Spotlight On… Youth Mental Health Day #StrideForward
Youth Mental Health Day (YMHD) – 7th September 2021
This year, YMHD 2021 will focus on how young people can #StrideForward with their mental health. The past year has presented challenges and disruptions to our way of life for everyone, not least young people. 2021 will invite young people across the country to reflect on how the last year has impacted their lives and share how they will #StrideForward and move towards positive mental health.
The aim, with young people’s collective voice loud and clear, is that the day will urge adults across the UK to listen and commit to help rebuild young people’s mental health together, allowing us all to #StrideForward.

Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health, carried out their fourth survey into the impact of the pandemic on young people’s mental health during the January 2021 national lockdown.
It found that the pandemic has had a devastating impact on many young people, with 67% believing that the pandemic will have a long-term negative effect on their mental health. This included young people who had been bereaved or undergone traumatic experiences during the pandemic, who were concerned about whether friendships would recover, or who were worried about the loss of education or their prospects of finding work.
